Library Learning Hub

St Patrick’s has a well-equipped, computerised library from which all students may borrow each week. We ask that all students have a library bag to protect their books. Borrowing occurs each week and parents are encouraged to show an interest in the books that their child borrows. Students also participate in formal Library Information Skills lessons each week with the Teacher Librarian.

Book Week

To celebrate books, St Patrick’s embraces Book Week in style! Other than our annual Book Fair, we host a Book Parade where students get to dress as their favourite book character for the day. The theme is set by The Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) and changes yearly.

National Simultaneous Reading Time (NSS)

Each year during May, we come together with about one million children around the nation to read the same picture book at 11am. The book chosen is always an engaging book to encourage the love of reading.

Book Club- Scholastic

Scholastic Book Club operates within the school, providing families with the opportunity to purchase books and encourage reading at home. All benefits from purchases directly fund books in our library.

Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC)

Students participate in the annual Premier’s Reading Challenge - this challenge encourages reading from a wide variety of specially selected books. If students reach their target, they will receive a special certificate from the NSW Premier.
